Tiesto, born Tijs Michiel Verwest, is a Dutch DJ and record producer. A Mix magazine poll where fans voted for the best DJ named him the "Greatest DJ of All Time". In 2013, DJ Mag readers voted him the best DJ of the past 20 years. Tiesto is considered by many to be the godfather of EDM. He began DJing at age 14. At the start of his DJing career, he played mostly acid house and new beat. In 2015, Tiesto won his first Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical for his remix of John Legend's "All of Me". He had previously been nominated for another Grammy, but he did not win. Tiesto has been voted by Dutch citizens their 40th Greatest Citizen of All Time. In 2007, he was awarded the Golden Harp in the Netherlands for his entire musical catalogue.
