is CEO and co-founder of New Leaders for New Schools, a national nonprofit organization that drives high levels of learning and achievement for every student by attracting and preparing outstanding leaders and supporting the performance of the urban public schools they lead at scale. Last year, Schnur took leave from New Leaders, serving as an advisor to President Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, a member of the presidential transition team, and a senior policy advisor to Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. Previously, Schnur was a policy adviser on education in the Clinton administration, served as the White House associate director for educational policy, acted as Vice President Al Gore’s senior policy advisor on education, and was special assistant to former Secretary of Education Richard Riley.
