Martha Williamson is a 20-year veteran of the entertainment industry.

Martha Williamson is a 20-year veteran of the entertainment industry. She began writing for television in 1984, working on musical variety programs for Carol Burnett, Walt Disney Television and others. She then spent six years in situation comedy as a writer and producer on such series as The Facts of Life and The Family Man before making the transition to one-hour drama in 1992.

In 1994 Williamson became the visionary Executive Producer and Head Writer of the CBS series Touched By An Angel, the groundbreaking, top-ten hit, which concluded its nine year run in 2003 and is currently broadcast to more than 140 countries around the globe. Williamson also created and executive produced Promised Land, which had a successful three year run, also on CBS. Touched By An Angel was nominated for nine Emmy Awards and was inducted into the Museum of Television and Radio Hall of Fame.

Now, under her MoonWater Productions banner, she’s developing a slate of theatrical release films in the family genre for the same loyal audience who embraced her television work for so many years.

In 2003, Williamson was appointed by President George W. Bush to the bi-partisan President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Pasadena Playhouse, leading the fundraising effort for the Carrie Hamilton Theater, in memory of the late daughter of her friend Carol Burnett, and the Board of Trustees of The King’s College and Seminary.

Her work has been honored by the Templeton Prize, the Freedom Works Awards from Congress, the Anti-Defamation League’s Deborah Award, the Catholics in Media Associates Awards, the Covenant Award, the Excellence in Media Awards, the Swiss American Faith and Values Award, the Edward R. Murrow Responsibility in Television Award, the Christopher Award, the Producers Guild Nova Award, and several NAACP Image Awards.

Williamson received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College. She is a popular speaker and author, and her book Inviting God to Your Wedding has become a favorite for engaged and married couples. In addition to her deep-seated faith, her own personal journey to health inspired her to lose 120 pounds and adopt a healthy lifestyle and gave her the strength to share her message of hope and inspiration to audiences worldwide.
