Author and Professor

Barry Barnes, Ph. D., is author of Everything I Know About Business I Learned from the Grateful Dead: The Ten Most Innovative Lessons from a Long Strange Trip. He draws on 20 years of business and management experience in Corporate America where he worked for companies such as IBM and John Deere.

Barry is also Professor of Management at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University where he has taught graduate level courses since 1997. He teaches Strategic Decision Making and Organizational Behavior in the Doctoral program and Leading Change at the Masters level. He also teaches a variety of courses for the International Institute for Franchise Education (IIFE) including Creating Strategic Value, Streamlined Strategic Planning and the Balanced Scorecard, and Leadership for High Performance. Barnes has taught students in Germany, China, Brazil, The Bahamas and Jamaica as well as at numerous locations around the US.

Barnes continues to work directly with businesses and executive teams to help them develop a more sustainable competitive advantage by transferring learning about strategy, leadership, and change into practice. He has worked with executive teams in a variety of industries including telecommunications, computer software, restaurants, law, aerospace manufacturing, and health care. Custom programs he has developed and delivered include Creating Strategic Value, Strategic Thinking, Strategic Planning and Change, Streamlined Strategic Planning and the Balanced Scorecard, Leadership for High Performance, Leader as Coach and Collaborator, Leadership and Generational Differences, Leading Change, High Performance Teams, and Coaching & Mentoring.
