Dave Navarro
Musician & Host of "Ink Master"; Best Known as a Member of Jane's Addiction & Former Member of Red Hot Chili Peppers
Dave Navarro is a member of the alternative band Jane's Addiction and a former member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He joined Jane's Addiction in 1986 and released four studio albums with them before their initial breakup in 1991. Navarro was with the Red Hot Chili Peppers between 1993 and 1998, recording one studio album. He has also been a member of Jane's Addiction spin-off bands, Deconstruction and The Panic Channel, releasing albums with both. In 2001, Navarro ventured into a solo career with the release of "Trust No One." He has also been a significant contributor to the music world by playing guitar for Alanis Morissette's track "You Oughta Know" on the album Jagged Little Pill and as the guitarist on the track "Girls/Fast Cars" for the indie rock band the Wombats, among others. Navarro uses PRS Guitars as his primary stage guitar.
Beyond his work in music, Navarro has been a host and judge on the tattoo competition reality show "Ink Master" since 2012. He also co-hosted the television series "Rock Star: INXS" and "Rock Star: Supernova." His television appearances also include four episodes of the FX drama "Sons of Anarchy," an episode of "Talking Dead," and "Law & Order: SVU." Additionally, he appeared in movies such as Floundering in 1994 and Uptown Girls in 2003 and directed an adult film, Broken, in 2007. He also participated in a Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp, featured in a commercial for Citibank. Navarro's advocacy work is highlighted by his involvement in PETA's anti-fur and anti-animal testing campaigns in 2010 and 2013, respectively.
Navarro's writing includes a movie review column titled "Movies & Crap" for Bikini Magazine and contributions to magazines such as Nylon, Details, Ray Gun, and US Weekly. He also co-wrote a book, "Don't Try This at Home." In 2015, he released the documentary Mourning Son detailing his mother's murder by her ex-boyfriend and his subsequent spiral into drug addiction. He has also been involved in politics, performing at the Republican National Convention in 2012 and endorsing Marianne Williamson in the 2020 Presidential Race. Due to ongoing struggles with long COVID, Navarro was absent from Jane's Addiction's 2023 tour, and his place was taken by Josh Klinghoffer.
