Devin McCourty currently serves as an analyst for NBC’s Football Night in America and is a game analyst for Westwood One Radio broadcasts of NFL games. McCourty retired from the NFL March of 2023 following a 13 year career, all with the New England Patriots.
McCourty was originally drafted in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Rutgers University. McCourty enjoyed a stellar career, winning 3 Super Bowls while starting all 205 games he played in, finishing with 35 career interceptions and being named to the New England Patriots 2010’s All Decade Team. Remarkably, Devin served as a Team Captain for 12 years, a reflection of the respect his teammates and coaches had for him.
His success on the field was only exceeded by his social impact off the field. Devin was nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award four times for his widespread philanthropic efforts. In 2013, Devin and his twin brother Jason launched their “Tackle Sickle Cell” Campaign in partnership with Embrace Kids Foundation (located in New Brunswick, NJ) with the aim of educating the public, increasing blood donations and raising money and awareness for the fight against sickle cell disease. To date, Tackle Sickle Cell has raised over 2.5 million dollars net profit to support families battling sickle cell. Devin earned the Boston Children’s Hospital Champions Award in 2015 and currently serves on the Boston Medical Center (BMC) Hospital Board.
Devin has been an active and engaged leader in a variety of social justice causes. He’s a member of the Players Coalition Task Force and serves as the Chair of the Players Coalition Education and Economic Advancement Committee. Devin has advocated for several bills that successfully passed legislation in Massachusetts including the “Student Opportunity Act.” He has participated in roundtable discussions with other NFL players about racism and advocated for nonprofits redirecting gang-involved youth from incarceration to educational and employment opportunities. Currently Devin is an Advisory Board Member for Boston Uncornered.
In May of 2020, as the COVID-19 stay at home orders began, he and his twin brother Jason purchased $100,000 worth of Chromebooks for students who did not have access to computers at home. They followed up with a $50,000 donation in early October to support technology needs for underserved high school students. Devin and his wife Michelle are parents to three children — daughter Londyn, and sons Brayden and Chase.
