Actor, Author & Former Comedian; Advocate for Down Syndrome Awareness; Best Known for "Scrubs"

John C. McGinley is an actor known for his multiple roles, such as Perry Cox in "Scrubs," Bob Slydell in Office Space, Captain Hendrix in The Rock, Sergeant Red O’Neill in Oliver Stone’s Platoon, and the serial killer Edgler Foreman Vess in the TV miniseries of "Intensity," based on the novel by Dean Koontz. He has also written and produced for television and film and authored a book titled "Untalkative Bunny: How to be Heard Without Saying a Word."

McGinley, born and raised in the Greenwich Village section of New York City, pursued his education in acting at Syracuse University and later at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He started his career by working Off-Broadway in Broadway productions, including the revival of "Glengarry Glen Ross," and had a two-year stint on the soap opera "Another World." He has also lent his voice to various animated television series.

Since 1985, McGinley's career has been prolific, primarily as a supporting character actor. His body of work spans films such as Point Break, Highlander 2, Article 99, Wagons East!, Se7en, The Rock, and Nothing to Lose. Adding to his credit, McGinley has been part of TV series like "Superman: The Animated Series," "Burn Notice," "Ground Floor," and "Stan Against Evil." He has also appeared in commercials for Miller Lite and the Champions Tour.

His performance in Dean Koontz's suspense drama Intensity received critical acclaim, and he won the Festival Director's Award at Method Fest for his role in Two Tickets to Paradise. He also narrated the documentary of the 2008 Stanley Cup Championship of the Detroit Red Wings, showcasing his allegiance as an avid fan of the NHL Detroit Red Wings. He holds a stake in one of Billy Gilroy's New York SoHo bistros. Outside his professional life, he enjoys golfing with John Cusack and is a member of the "Malibu Mob" celebrity group.

McGinley has not only made a mark through his acting prowess but also is a key advocate for people with Down syndrome. He became actively involved in this cause due to his son, Max, who has Down syndrome. He serves on the board of the Global Down Syndrome Foundation, is a celebrity Ambassador for the National Down Syndrome Society, and is a Global Ambassador for Special Olympics. He played an integral part in crafting the "R-word: Spread The Word, To End The Word" campaign, with his written commentary on this subject being published by the Huffington Post.
