EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

Based in McLean, Booz Allen Hamilton Executive Vice President Mike Jones leads the firm’s International business. One of the firm’s leading experts and practitioners, Mr. Jones has worked with senior executives and agency leaders to shape and execute broad restructuring and repositioning agendas across the aerospace and defense market as well as US government agencies and defense services. He has undertaken major transformation programs to significantly improve business performance for a varied set of defense platforms including helicopters, fighters, aircraft, tankers, land combat vehicles, submarines, destroyers, satellite, and space launch programs.

In recognition of their outstanding and innovative client service, Mr. Jones and his team received Booz Allen’s Professional Excellence Award for their work on a project for General Dynamics – Bath Iron Works. In addition, Mr Jones and his team received the Booz Allen Excellence Award for Innovation on their “Design for Affordability” engagement.

Mr. Jones has leveraged his extensive experience to assist the world’s premier aerospace and defense companies across diverse platforms, and supported senior U.S. government clients, including the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, National Reconnaissance Office, and Department of Homeland Security, on extensive change programs.

Examples of key assignments include:

-Designed and implemented an innovative “Design for Affordability” cost reduction program for VIRGINIA, a fast-attack submarine, to significantly reduced both acquisition costs ($3.8 billion) and construction cycle times (40%). -Designed and implemented multiple major cost repositioning strategies that have resulted in multi-billion cost reductions on major defense weapon systems to include submarines, destroyers, fixed wing fighters, and helicopters. -Designed and implemented a major post-merger integration plan that dramatically reduced the combined cost structure of a major space launch provider. -Led an integration strategy team for the Department of Homeland Security that developed a department-wide integration plan encompassing all management processes including strategic planning, budgeting, performance and IT management, acquisition, and other department processes. -Led a major evaluation of the US Navy’s processes and cost structures across its $59-billion materiel establishment to examine opportunities for cost improvement and capability building. -Participated in several industrial base studies to examine the health of national security to include space, space launch, commercial imaging, and critical space related components.

Mr. Jones is a recognized though leader and the author of the Booz Allen studies "ISSR: What Drives (Your) Program Costs? Achieving Step-Change Reduction on Department of Defense Platforms" and "1% IT in Aerospace and Defense – Reducing Costs While Increasing Capability."

Previous employers include Philip Morris USA, Hoffman La-Roche, and ICI Americas, where his roles included senior plant operations and process engineering.

Mr. Jones holds B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Cornell University and an M.B.A. in finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
