In July 2009, Richard Jarzynka's book, Blessed with Bipolar, was published. The book insists that there are numerous advantages to having bipolar disorder and it addresses the disorder from an academic, personal, and Christian perspective.

In 1989 Richard Jarzynka completed his masters degree in psychology while he was hospitalized for the treatment of bipolar disorder. Then Richard Jarzynka worked for a number of years as a Psychotherapist and counseling program director with troubled teenagers and their families.

In 2000 Richard Jarzynka attended Law School on full-tuition, merit-based scholarship until being expelled one day after the Dean learned that he has bipolar disorder. Richard Jarzynka then represented himself in a Federal Lawsuit against the Law School in the Southern District of Florida and the 11th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals.

In 1980, Richard Jarzynka earned football scholarships to four Division One universities. He accepted the scholarship that was offered by Georgia Tech, but was unable to continue due to an untreated episode of bipolar disorder.

Richard Jarzynka considers all of the above to be a blessing from God that He continues to use for good. Richard Jarzynka had experienced mush pain and suffering with bipolar - expulsion, termination from jobs, the loss of a football scholarship, and hospitalizations - but it has ultimately all been blessing which has drawn him to embrace Christ and know peace, love, and joy beyond anything he could have imagined.

Since the publication of his book, Richard Jarzynka has been speaking to local groups of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and and library groups. He has also recently done two radio interviews.
