Award-Winning Actor Known for "Magnum P.I." & "Blue Bloods"; Author of "You Never Know: A Memoir"
Tom Selleck's work in both television and film has been widely recognized and appreciated. His most recognizable role is Thomas Magnum in the 1980s CBS television series, "Magnum P.I.," for which he received an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series. He was also nominated for five Emmy Awards for this role. In addition to these accolades, Selleck has been recognized with five People’s Choice Awards, four Emmy nominations, and six Golden Globe nominations. In 2024, Selleck will debut his memoir, "You Never Know: A Memoir," detailing his journey through life and Hollywood.
Despite his fame from "Magnum P.I.," Selleck's more recent work has continued to draw audiences. Since 2005, he has played the role of Jesse Stone in a series of television films based on the best-selling books by Robert B. Parker. The 2008 film, Jesse Stone: Sea Change, earned Selleck an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie. Furthermore, Selleck has also been a part of other popular series, such as "Blue Bloods" since 2010, which is wrapping up its 14th and final season in 2024.
Selleck’s film career has seen him take on a variety of roles, including films like Three Men and a Baby, the sequel Three Men A Little Lady, and Quigley Down Under. Over the years, Selleck has also taken on different roles in popular television shows, including recurring roles in series like "Friends" and "The Rockford Files."
Aside from his acting career, Selleck is also a California Army National Guard veteran. He has served as a spokesman for the National Rifle Association of America (NRA) and has been an influential figure in the Character Education Program "Character Counts!" His contributions to the community have been recognized, with Selleck receiving an honorary doctorate degree from Pepperdine University and a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1986.
Though Selleck was born in Detroit, he currently resides in Southern California with his wife, actress Jillie Mack.
