Brazil Program Director & Assistant Vice-President Amazon Conservation Team (ACT)

Mr. van Roosmalen has lived and worked in tropical South America for most of his life. He was raised in a Maroon village in Suriname, the rainforests of French Guiana and the Brazilian Amazon, among other places. He holds a Masters of Science in Environmental and Political Sciences. Mr. van Roosmalen coordinated the mapping of 18 million acres of Indigenous lands in collaboration with the Brazilian government and 20 indigenous communities.

Currently, Mr. van Roosmalen is Assistant Vice-President of the Amazon Conservation Team (ACT), Director of ACT Brasil and coordinates a staff of 25 professionals in a multi-disciplinary team working on strengthening indigenous communities and their ability to manage and protect their biodiversity.
