Cindy Holland

Former Vice President for Original Series at Netflix

Cindy Holland is the former VP for Original Series at Netflix. She was responsible for acquiring and launching original series for the over 125 million Netflix global members, and was named to the 2018 Time 100 list of most influential people.

Under her purview, Holland and her team have launched award-winning and critically acclaimed projects that span drama, comedy, family/YA, documentaries, stand-up specials and docu-series. Previously, Holland oversaw domestic TV licensing for Netflix after starting her career at the company in DVD acquisition.

Holland was responsible for developing properties like prison comedy-drama "Orange is the New Black" and Emmy award-winning "House of Cards." The political drama, starring Kevin Spacey, was partly responsible for the company's spike in new members during first quarter 2013: three million new members, bringing total global subscribers then to over 36 million.

Before Netflix, she held various business and creative development roles at e-commerce startup Kozmo.com and for film production companies including Mutual Film Company and Baltimore/Spring Creek. Holland has now been appointed to the board of Horizon Acquisition Corp. II, a SPAC led by Eldridge Industries CEO Todd Boehly.

Holland is a graduate of Stanford University. An avid cyclist, Holland has ridden the 545-mile AIDSLifecycle HIV/AIDS fundraising ride 10 times and counting in support of the LA LGBT Center; and also supports GLAAD, the MPTF Foundation, Exploring The Arts, and The Saban Community Clinic.
