Cindy Holland

Vice President of Content Acquisition / Original Series, Netflix

In 2012, Cindy Holland, a longtime Netflix executive, was put in charge of the company's aggressive push into original content. For Holland, that includes developing properties like this year's prison comedy-drama "Orange is the New Black" and last fall's Emmy award-winning "House of Cards." The political drama, starring Kevin Spacey, is partly responsible for the company's spike in new members during first quarter 2013: three million new members, bringing total global subscribers then to over 36 million. The position was newly created.

Holland, a Stanford University graduate who's worked 10 years at Netflix, was previously in charge of licensing television shows in the United States for the company. She started out at Netflix buying DVD's for the company.
