Actor and comedian Paul Brittain was born on February 16, 1977 in Naperville, Illinois. He was also raised there, having graduated from Naperville North High School in 1995. He pursued his education at the University of Illinois, completing his education in 2000.

Brittain got his start performing at the iO Theater in Chicago. There he became a member of several improv and sketch groups, hoping to improve his craft. Later, he appeared on Sports Action Team and soon found himself as a cast member on Saturday Night Live. He joined the 36th season and was noted for being the nephew of actor and SNL host Bob Newhart.

On the show, Paul Brittain became known for his impressions of Dax Holt, Vili Fualaau, Harry Reid and Johnny Depp.
