Speaker on Fashionable Technology and the Aesthetics & Function in Design

Designer, entrepreneur and researcher Sabine Seymour has been described as an innovator, visionary and trend spotter. She is the Director of the Fashionable Technology Lab at Parsons The New School for Design and Assistant Professor in Fashionable Technology. She published the well-received book Fashionable Technology, The Intersection of Design, Fashion, Science, and Technology in 2008 and Functional Aesthetics, Visions in Fashionable Technology in 2010. Sabine curates, exhibits and lectures internationally at Ars Electronica, Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, Smart Fabrics, ISEA, etc. and has been published worldwide.

She is an editorial review board member of the International Journal of Mobile Human Computer Interaction. She serves as a jury member for renowned international institutions and conferences. She was recently the design co-chair for ISWC and a jury member for the Prix Ars Electronica. Sabine is the Chief Creative Officer of her company Moondial, which develops fashionable wearables and consults on fashionable technology to companies worldwide. Moondial's work is based on the convergence of fashion, design, wearable and wireless technologies.Sabine received a PhD and MSc in Social and Economic Sciences from the Vienna University of Economics and Columbia University in New York, and a MPS in Interactive Telecommunications from New York University.
