Psychologist & Cognitive Scientist

Tom Griffiths is a psychologist and cognitive scientist and is currently the Henry R. Luce Professor of Information Technology, Consciousness, and Culture at Princeton University. Griffith's research explores connections between natural and artificial intelligence, specifically how people solve challenging computational problems.

Griffiths has received awards from the American Psychological Association to the Sloan Foundation. In 2018, he did a TED talk titled "3 ways to make better decisions -- by thinking like a computer." In 2018,, Griffiths published Algorithms to Live By with his colleague Brian Christian. The book provides algorithms used by computers that can be helpful in human decision-making. Algorithms to Live By was featured on Forbes's "Must-read brain books of 2016" list and the MIT Technology Review's "Best books of 2016" list.
