Sunny Choi

Professional Breakdancer; First Ever Gold Medalist in Breakdancing at Pan American Games & First B-Girl to Qualify for Breakdancing at the 2024 Olympics

Sunny Choi, born in Tennessee and raised in Kentucky, is an American breakdancer whose achievements have left a notable impact on the world of breakdancing. Introduced to breaking during her first year at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, she quickly became enamored with its physical challenges and artistic self-expression. Eventually, she joined the breaking club, marking the start of a journey that brought her to the forefront of the breakdancing world.

In 2012, Choi moved to Queens, NY, and soon positioned herself as one of the top-ranked BGirls in the US. Her talent shone even brighter when she won the first gold medal in breakdancing at the Pan American Games, making her the first American woman to qualify for breakdancing at the 2024 Olympics. This event was especially significant as the 2024 Olympics marked the inaugural inclusion of breakdancing.

Before dedicating herself full-time to breakdancing, Choi served as the director of global creative operations at Estée Lauder. In January 2023, she quit her job to focus solely on her passion for dance, which was further motivated by breaking's inclusion in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Recently, Choi expressed her hopes to inspire others to express themselves through dance and her aspiration to open a dance center in Queens someday.
