CEO of Children's Health Fund

Dennis Walto joined Children’s Health Fund in November 2015 as Executive Director and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in June 2017, bringing with him more than 25 years of senior leadership experience with not-for-profit organizations in the U.S. and around the world. Over the past three decades, Walto has lived and worked in some of the world’s toughest places and built a global and domestic professional network of leaders, activists, influencers, donors and decision makers owing to work in 43 United States and 20+ Countries across the globe.

A convener and innovative change management leader, Walto’s record of major accomplishments includes directing programs that have benefited more than 10 million children, youth and families worldwide. These accomplishments have earned him significant praise as an innovative, inspiring and effective leader. He is particularly recognized for his insights on how organizations can best thrive in a changing environment, while sustaining a powerful mission.

Prior to joining Children's Health Fund, Walto held a variety of leadership roles with prestigious global organizations including Save the Children, Population Services International, and the International Medical Corps. In addition, he has held key US based leadership positions with Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless, the National Health Care for Homeless Council, and helped lead the development of Children’s Health Fund’s own national program in the early 1990s. He is a regular contributor to Huffington Post and other thought leadership platforms and received his Master of Arts Degree from York St. John University with a thesis on Positive Organizational Development.
