Juan Pablo Escobar
Architect, Industrial Designer, Writer, Certified Ambassador of Peace & Son of Pablo Escobar
Sebastian Marroquin, formerly Juan Pablo Escobar, is the son of the most famous narcotics-trafficker in history and the “most wanted” criminal in the world. A Father and Family man, Architect, Industrial Designer, Pacifist, Lecturer, and internationally-known Writer, he is also an Audio-Visual Producer who has worked with internationally renowned production companies.
He is the author of the best-selling books "Pablo Escobar, Mi Padre" (My father, Pablo Escobar) and "Pablo Escobar in Fraganti" (Pablo Escobar caught red-handed), published by Editorial Planeta. Both won the Golden Book Award of the Uruguayan Book Association (Cámara del Libro Uruguayo), the first in 2015 and the second in 2017. They have been translated into more than 15 languages and sold in more than 60 countries.
He was the protagonist of the documentary Pecados de mi Padre (Sins of my Father), which won seven awards and was screened by the United Nations to celebrate International Peace Day. He premiered and co-produced the successful documentary Escobar Exposed, which was acclaimed by the critics at the Cannes Festival and won a prize in Canada in 2017. He also produced the documentary Tata, la viuda de Escobar (Tata, the widow of Escobar), which is about his mother and was shown on the Discovery Channel. The prestigious French producer “10.7” premiered the first documentary series about Juan Pablo, entitled Escobar, the cursed heritage, which broke the record for ratings.
As a pacifist, he has had encounters with the children of the victims of the narco-terrorism perpetrated by his father in the 1980´s and 1990´s, with the aim of reconciliation and asking forgiveness.
He currently works as an architect and is devoted to the rebuilding of peace and the recovery of the human values lost during the “War against Drugs”.
He is respectful of life and a believer, whose only faith is in the power of love.
Marroquin was recently named as an Ambassador of Peace by the World Peace Organization (in Mexico City, on August 30th, 2019).
