Screenwriter & Producer Best Known For "Luke Cage" & "Notorious"; Former Hip-Hop Journalist

Cheo Hodari Coker is a former music journalist turned television writer and producer.

As a hip-hop journalist, Coker penned features about legendary artists from the '90s like A Tribe Called Quest, the Notorious B.I.G. and the Wu-Tang Clan for The Source, Rap Pages and the Los Angeles Times.

An adept storyteller, the Stanford grad made the leap to the screen in 2009 and has not looked back. Coker wrote the screenplay for Notorious, the 2009 biopic about the late rapper's life, before transitioning to television, producing shows like Southland, NCIS: Los Angeles, Ray Donovan, and Almost Human. In 2016, Coker created Marvel's Luke Cage for Netflix, bringing the comic book giant's first black superhero to life.
