Kevin Ollie

Interim Head Coach of Brooklyn Nets

Kevin Ollie is a retired professional basketball player and interim head coach of the Brooklyn Nets. A 13-year NBA vet, he led the University of Connecticut (UConn) Huskies to a 2014 NCAA Championship.

Ollie's playing career began at UConn, and he subsequently embarked on a lengthy and well-traveled NBA journey, playing for several teams over 13 seasons. His professional career included stints with the Dallas Mavericks, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Despite not being a high-profile player during his NBA career, Ollie was highly respected for his work ethic, professionalism, and ability to mentor younger players. Following his playing career, Ollie transitioned to coaching; notably, he became the head coach of his alma mater's basketball team in 2012. In just his second season as head coach, Ollie guided the Huskies to an improbable championship.

Ollie's coaching career faced challenges, including NCAA investigations and subsequent disputes with UConn. In 2018, Ollie and UConn parted ways, leading to legal proceedings. Five years later, he returned to pro ball as an assistant coach with the Nets.
