Patrick O’Connell is a five-time James Beard Award winner, a 3-star Michelin chef, author, and the owner of The Inn at Little Washington. In 2019, he received the James Beard Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award. O'Connell is known as "the Pope of American Cuisine" and considers food to be only a small part of being a restaurateur.

The Inn at Little Washington first opened in 1978, and has grown from a small country inn to a legendary establishment of American cuisine. For The Inn at Little Washington's thirtieth anniversary, O'Connell worked on a documentary celebrating American cuisine.
